10/10: Microsoft Hyper-V Gaining on VMware VMware is still indisputably the server virtualization market leader, but Microsoft Hyper-V has made significant strides in the last year. View 5.0 is fully compatible with vSphere 4.0 Update 3 or 4.1 Update 1 and later. There are thirteen fixes found in this update. CLICK HERE for more information. 09/23: Cisco & Microsoft Server 8 Hyper-V This marriage between the Cisco Nexus 1000v and MS Hyper-V is making a statement--that being Microsoft Hyper-V is ready for prime time. CLICK HERE for more information. 09/15: Hyper-V Version 3 Last week at BUILD, Microsoft gave the attendees a look at their next hypervisor built on Windows Server 8; Hyper-V 3, by all appearances this version may very well give VMware a run for their money. Today was an exciting day as VMware has advanced their End-User Computing vision with the general availability of View 5, Workstation 8, and Fusion 4. Competency Updates for VMware View 5---The DV competency learning paths will be updated to View 5 content in the October/November 2011 timeframe. Shortened upgrade paths will be made available for DV 5, so please continue to complete your DV version 4 accreditations so you are eligible to take the upgrade path. 09/09: Cloud Computing (in Plain English) Cloud Computing is a general term for anything that involves delivering hosted services over the Internet. These services are broadly divided into three categories: Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). The name cloud computing was inspired by the cloud symbol that's often used to represent the Internet in flow charts and diagrams. It provides a single monitor view of the VM with resolution up to 1600x1200 in 32-bit color. This console provides you with the ability to view the VM's booting process. The technical content it not the focus but the names being used by Microsoft; it is very similar to the naming scheme used by VMware. 09/08: Another Virtual Player in the Market--Oracle Oracle has just announced the release of Oracle VM 3.0, the server version is a bare metal hypervisor based on Xen.
